NIC Chile installs a new name server for .CL in USA
NIC Chile informs that a new dedicated server providing DNS service for .CL domain names is now in operation. Located in Culpeper (Virginia, USA), it belongs to an anycast cloud under direct control of NIC Chile. The server is hosted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the organization in charge of root DNS administration.
In this way, the network of servers for .CL which NIC Chile manages directly, is now present in 4 regions outside of Chile: Europe (Czech Republic and Denmark), North America (USA and Mexico), South America (Brazil and Peru) and Asia (Taiwan); in addition to 10 nodes distributed over 3 cities in Chile, that cover almost all the domestic internet service providers (ISP).
Additional DNS service for .CL are provided by agreements and contracts with prestigious external organizations, such as ISC, NETNOD (Autonomica) and Packet Clearing House.
With the operation of this new nameserver, NIC Chile continues to improve the robustness and response time of the network of servers that resolve domain names for .CL worldwide.

NIC Chile is the organization in charge of managing the domain name registry for .CL, the identifier that corresponds to Chile, and is responsible for operating the technology that makes those identifiers function in an efficient and secure way.
NIC Chile is a service provided to the community by the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Universidad de Chile.
